Dwarf Fortress is a game of insane complexity. I'm not even sure I should say 'game' as it's more of a painful simulation of a horde of drunken, depressed midgets. Don't forget they're also fond of drink and industry. In any case, I've had a few great things happen with the physics in this game.

Open WiFi

When using public wifi, it's usually an open network where you can just connect. After that, you may have to digitally accept a term of service, or something similar. This is the breeding ground for identity theft, account theft, and getting your machine broken into.

Help Desk

I've worked at a company in PA that outsources its services as a help desk (much like those companies in Bangladesh) to other companies for almost 4 years. I've also done a stint at my current employer as help desk (for their proprietary software) for a year. These are my feelings on help desk employees.

Expense Reports

When you need to purchase things with your company's money, sometimes they want you to write them out a response report. I need some help in understanding why, though.

40GB Log File!

I was investigating the cause of lack of space on my SQL Server some more today, and did a dir /s >> dump.txt to get it out into a text file. After some Excel Kung-Fu I got a breakout of all the folders and their respective file sizes.

The one that caught my eye, was that my SQL Server folder was over 300 gigabytes. Wow. That's bloody huge. I tried shrinking it, backing it up (thinking it'd truncate the log), rebooting the entire server (thinking something was stuck) ... But no. Eventually, I found the cause.
